Once you have a pool built in your backyard, you must maintain it to keep it operational. Use the following guide to learn how to maintain your pool equipment and get the most out of your pool.
Watch for Leaves and Debris
Without the proper care, leaves and debris can cause big problems in your pool. You should use the skimmer on the water’s surface a few times a week to remove debris before it gets stuck in the filtration system. Spend some time cleaning out the skimmer basket to prevent unnecessary clogs. If you have a lot of trees or bushes near the pool, you might want to trim them to keep them away from the water.
Clean Out the Filter
You can set the filter valve to backwash to reverse the flow of water and clean out the filter. Instead of depositing dirty water into the pool, this maintenance step sends it to a waste line. Periodically cleaning out the filter ensures that it does its job and keeps the pool clean and free from debris.
Focus on the Pump Filter
Before you do this step, you should shut off the entire filtration system. Keep the skimmer valve closed while you open the pump so you do not need to reset the system when you start it up again. Take the cover off of the trap and pull out the basket to empty it. Once it is clean, put it back into place, close the cover, open the skimmer valve, and turn the system back on.
