To better match the modern and formal squared design of the client’s home a 30 foot long architectural style pool layout was selected that consisted of nested and chained squares. The pool terminates in a spillway dividing it from the also square spa. This transition helps tie the pool to the spa, and both to the surrounding landscape.
This modern look is further accentuated by the stunning Blue Surf Pebble Sheen interior and silver variegated waterline tile. This blends smoothly with the decking – grey travertine pavers which flow right up to the client’s door – and ties it to the similarly colored interior flooring and creating a seemingly seamless inviting indoor / outdoor space punctuated by the crisp blue water.
One of the challenges with the client’s site was it’s topography and orientation. The pool was situation in such a way that the pool orientation and layout worked with the terrain and flow of the client’s use of the backyard. As is often the case, a seemingly frustrating obstacle actually led to a more enticing design!
In addition to the site challenges, the backyard had to serve many purposes. A lagoon entry helped entice the client’s grand-kids to visit more in summer – not that they needed much convincing! Meanwhile the automation and lights allowed the clients to easily adjust the mood for romantic evenings and grown up parties. Sometimes you can have it all!
